10x Thinking

As the wise Jim Rohn says, “Nothing is easy or hard .. Thinking makes it so. However, all things are simple when you know what to do. Add more of the good stuff and get rid of the bad stuff. It’s not how things are that determines our reality, it is how we THINK things are that determines the paradigm in which we live.”
The quote itself is self-explanatory. It’s due to our current mindset and thought process of the situation. If you believe that you are going to fail the exam or the presentation, then your mind will be engulfed by the negative thoughts, thus resulting in your failure. Leave behind the negativity and embrace the positivity.
The enlightened man, Walter Russell, said that “It takes no more energy to think a bigger thought”.

This is POWERFUL! It takes no more energy to ask a bigger question which requires a bigger answer.

For example, one of the people in my company came up to me one day and said, “Rob, this year I want to make $70,000. We’re doing well and creating awesome things. With our current growth how can I make $220,00 ? I think that with our momentum that amount is practical and reasonable.”

I appreciated that this person wanted to set goals and I simply responded,

“That’s a really great idea and I think we can definitely do it. Let me ask you something though, I know you are extremely knowledgeable, understand the infinite and limitless ability of the human mind, and are aware that our thoughts are the building blocks of our life, why then do you limit yourself to the confines of  $70,000-$220,000? What makes you set those parameters?
You may well have asked me, ‘Rob how do I go from $70,000 to $700,000’ ”

I said this to him because of Walter Russell.

It takes no more energy to ask a bigger question.

It takes no more energy to dream bigger.

Socrates states that the quality of our answer is directly proportional to the quality of our question.

By simply asking a better question, we can access a heightened state of awareness.

The mind starts to pull from different mental frameworks due to the objective nature of the question being asked – meaning that different ideas will arise when asking about $70,000 and when asking about $700,000. This is due to the fact that each method to get either one is completely different.

The mind is a problem solving tool. Allow this tool to work for you.

If you ask it to figure out how to go from $70k – $220k it will do just that.

If you ask it to figure out how to go from $70k – $700k it will give you ideas to do just that.

This 10x mentality is called Moonshot Thinking and comes from the book “Bold: How to Go Big, Create Wealth and Impact The World” by Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler.

This term describes the type of thinking necessary to do the seemingly impossible and create that which does not already exist.

In some of the largest tech companies like Google, SpaceX, Tesla, and Apple, there are “moonshot thinking” projects that are devoted to creating things never done before like augmented reality, perpetual fusion energy, space and time travel, etc.

The people in these projects are literally quarantined from the rest of the employees because they are attempting projects that too many deem impossible.

The executives of these companies understand the power of thought and the destructive nature of limiting beliefs.

They know that just one smidgen of doubt is enough to negate the entire equation of creation and for this reason these people are removed from the group so that the doubt of other employees does not seep into the minds of these moonshot thinkers.

In order to become moonshot ourselves we must first be comfortable with all the things we want and the responsibility that will come with it.

You cannot attract anything into your life that you are not ready for.

Tony Robbins shares that shifting your identity is how we can do this.

You must shift the perception you have of yourself – from someone that is limited and restrained, to boundless and infinite.

At first shifting your identity of yourself is challenging.

Stick with it. Stay consistent.

Over time this identity will become unconscious and moonshot thinking will become a habit.

Moonshot thinking has been an essential component to all the momentum we’ve been able to create with our community, content, and events hub for purpose driven people called Leave Normal Behind.

The mission of LNB is to bring together purpose driven people and inspire them to become the best version of themselves by creating things that matter and encouraging others to do the same.

In the name itself, Leave Normal Behind, requires that we think past normal and into the realm of the unknown to facilitate the experience where people can tap into their higher, more conscious self.

Think big !

Ask big questions !

And get big answers !

If you’re someone who’s purpose driven and not currently in the LNB community, I encourage you to do so now.
